About the Author

Seanka Lariska Gounden

The book “Redemption” contains poems that have been written during different phases of my life, where I’ve gone through many emotional challenges regarding depression and anxiety. Poetry is an art of expression. Throughout the challenges I face, writing poems is a way of challenging my mental health, my stability and value to myself. Throughout writing ‘Redemption’. I had concluded that poetry doesn’t only help those around me understand how I feel (and vice versa), but it also helps me understand my own emotions better. Writing helps me discover the words and metaphors I have been looking for but could never define and helps me embrace the negatives and positives of this world. Poetry has given me the gift to see life from other perspectives as I’d find great honor writing about other emotions and stories, this makes us realize that perhaps we’re not so alone and different after all.
